The urban neighborhood influenced the material choices for this project.  Concrete, steel, wood, and crushed granite were used for walls, planters, the shade structure, the patio and planting beds.  Low maintenance, yet lush, trees and ornamental grasses were planted in the gardens and planters.  A retreat in the city was created with this renovation.
